Vitamins for pets - Healthy dog food and cat food
Vitamins are micronutrients which have to be taken with a diet because they can not be synthesized by the body.
The consumption of vitamins in a diet can be useful for a species, but may not be for others: for example, Vitamin C is necessary in the diet of human beings and primates whereas some animals can synthesize it from other nutrients.
Vitamins can be divided into 2 groups:
° water-soluble (Vitamins C and B group Vitamins);
° fat-soluble (Vitamins A, E, D, K).
Water-soluble vitamins are eliminated in urine, therefore they can not be accumulated, whereas fat-soluble vitamins are stored in the adipose tissue and in the liver.
Vitamin needs vary depending on the physiological and/or pathological condition of the human or animal body: age and sex, pregnancy and lactation require an increase of vitamins.
All our foods are highly digestible and appetizing and are subject to the proper supplementation with vitamins and mineral salts which takes into account the needs of individuals of different ages and breeds as well as their correct balance.
ADDITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS ARE NOT NECESSARY.

BLUEBERRY The blueberry contains discrete quantities of organic acids, pectin, tannins, anthocyanins (colour pigments) and Vitamin C. Because of their antioxidant and antiradical properties, these substances can be very helpful in medicine.Their pigments protect against capillary fragility and against cellular aging or various modification processes caused by oxygen. Some of these activities are the same as those found in wine. It is a powerful natural antioxidant, which is important for the health of the urinary tract and to reduce the risk of infections. |

APPLE Apple contains very small quantities of organic compounds called “phytochemicals” which protect the body against cell oxidation. The synergy between carotenoids (which give colour to the flesh) and polyphenols neutralizes free radicals and strengthens the immune system. The apple is a fruit rich in vitamins, minerals and fibre: from the unripe fruit you can obtain a concentrated extract of polyphenols and procianidines able to prevent the formation of plaque and dental caries. |

CITRUS FRUITS Citrus fruits are rich in vitamins and are very important for the extraction of essential oils, pectin, citric acid and other derivatives.From grapefruit, bergamot and lemon you can obtain a mixture of biflavonoids (naringin, hesperidin, quercetin and rutin) and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) which has powerful antioxidant properties able to counteract the deleterious effects of free radicals on cells. |
