Lipids for pets - Healthy cat food and dog food

They are important nutrients because they provide energy with about double the amount of calories provided by carbohydrates and proteins. They are also an important source of essential fatty acids (linoleic and arachidonic acids) which promote the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, E, and K D3) and make food more appetizing.

Higher quantities of dietetic fats are important during periods of high calorie needs, such as growth, lactation and physical activity.

Lipids are divided into fats and oils. Fats are solid at room-temperature, whereas oils are liquid. These compounds have a very evident feature: they are not soluble in water but they are soluble in common organic solvents.

Lipids are composed of FATTY ACIDS, some of which are essential. These essential fatty acids have to be introduced with a diet, as the body can not produce them.

The presence of lipids make dogs and cats food much more appetizing.

CORN OIL

It has an excellent content of linoleic acid (Omega 6 Essential Fatty acid) recommended for skin and coat health and to prevent problems of dry or irritated skin.

SUNFLOWER OIL

Sunflower seed oil contains a very high percentage of polyunsaturated fats, especially  linoleic acid (up to 75%) and a substantial amount of Vitamin E (68 mg / 100 grams).

Excellent for skin health.

FLAX SEEDS

They are rich in Omega 3 and Omega 6 Essential Fatty acids, mucilages, minerals and Vitamins E, B1, B2.

Unlike other vegetable oils, flax seeds oil is very rich in linolenic acid, the parent Omega 3 fatty acid (about 58%).

It has been shown that a good relationship between Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids can limit the inflammatory phenomena ,  improving skin and joint health.

LARD

Lard is obtained by the fusion of fats contained in the pork adipose tissue. It appears as a white, compact, odourless and tasteless food.

Through the modern farming methods it is possible to produce high quality fats rich in unsaturated fatty acids.
